A message from Ian R.

It looks like the planning committe hearing to consider the application for a 50m/164ft Wind Monitoring Mast just 300m NE of the airfield boundary is to be delayed until probably now Tue 3 Feb 09. That said the deadline for comments on, and objections to, the application remains Christmas Eve (please this is not a joke). There are a number of you that I would be very grateful if you would raise your own objections to this proposal as well as to register to speak on the night as you have all done so well before and for which we would again be extremely grateful. You can access the application and register your comments (including where appropriate please register the wish to speak) through the Council Planning Portal at:

http://planning.easington.gov.uk/portal/servlets/ApplicationSearchServlet?PKID=102344

I am hoping (those below all being willing) to field a similar line up to that we have done for past applications:

Jim Barnes - who moved the Airfield & Parachute Centre from Sunderland to Shotton.
John Hillam - who tried to find an alternative site for Border Parachute Centre after it closed.
Paul Bloomfield - local parachutist
local University Parachute reps
an Army Parachute Rep (perhaps northern based if no APA rep - John Horne undertook this role last time)
local flex wing pilot - vol sought
local fixed wing pilot - vol sought
Tony Cowan - Skywatch
Technical Officer BPA
Chairman BPA
Sport England Rep (tbc)
Self employed Tandem Inst (1 of 7) - business on the Airfield that could be potentially lost
Phoenix Vid Rep (1 of 3/4/5) - business on the Airfield that could be potentially lost
Aero Sports Club Operator - business on the Airfield & employment opportunities that could be potentially lost
Rigger - business on the Airfield that could be potentially lost
TRW business impact with/without turbines - Jamie Weatherston Senior Lecturer Newcastle Business School
Ian Rosenvinge - Airfield & Parachute Centre Operator

If as has been the case in the past speakers could be very brief 1/2 minute contributions & avoiding any overlap. The meeting is likely to be at 6pm at Easington Council Offices on tue 3 Feb 09. Hopefully should it be required we can arrange to meet before and afterwards at the Airfield. Let this please be the last.

Regards

Ian Rosenvinge
